Abstract

This study compares single-expert and group-based criterion weighting in a Fuzzy Simple Additive Weighting (Fuzzy-SAW) decision support system for student ranking. Data from 116 students across four classes at a Nahdlatul Ulama-affiliated Madrasah Aliyah were evaluated using academic, attendance, and extracurricular criteria. The Single Expert (SE) approach was compared with Fuzzy Group Decision Making (FGDM), involving four equally weighted experts. Linguistic judgments were converted into Triangular Fuzzy Numbers, while missing attendance values were imputed as 75. Both approaches used identical data and normalization procedures. Results showed near-perfect ranking agreement between SE and FGDM (Spearman's rs = 0.9964; MAE = 0.35 positions). Correlations with academic report rankings were 0.8063 and 0.8092, respectively. These findings demonstrate limited ranking changes following expert aggregation, rather than proven improvements in accuracy or bias reduction. The study provides a controlled methodological comparison, although its generalizability remains limited by the single-school setting.
